Who
we are
Attorney Daniel Rubinow spent years as a business license prosecutor for the City of Chicago where he learned the intricacies of the licensing system. He used that same expertise to help businesses gain and maintain proper licensing under the name License Law Group.
In 2022, Daniel joined Troglia Kaplan Attorneys, a business law boutique with a highly skilled, experienced yet modern and flexible perspective on legal work. Our lawyers’ entrepreneurial experience and cross-industry knowledge allow for seamless customized solutions for specific, unique client needs, solving complex briefs with precise strategy. Our members have owned a variety of companies, including bars, restaurants, management companies and tech startups. We can empathize with investors and educate executives, while working to establish synergies between both.
Our Services
-
Our corporate practice is as diverse and dynamic as our clients. We strive to serve as a business' general counsel offering guidance and expertise through the life-cycle of any company. Whether the client is a start-up technology company or a multi-generational construction contractor, we provide the appropriate guidance, advice and strategy planning to allow our clients the ability to focus on whatever it is that they do best.

Taverns, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and any liquor-related or tobacco-related business face a mountain of regulations and licensing issues. There is a lot to navigate. We are here to help so you don't waste your time and energy.
-
Selling or purchasing a licensed business comes with additional considerations which can complicate the transaction. We can help you with a smooth transition. In addition, if you are leasing property, we can help guide you through the process.
-
We also work with liquor manufacturers and distributors on all aspects of their business. This includes federal and state licensing, contract negotiation, and strategic planning.
-
Your business may not be allowed to operate in the location you choose because of tough zoning regulations. In these situations, you may need to get special use permission or a variance in order to get properly licensed and in business. We examine zoning regulations and can help with the required cumbersome applications and hearings.
-
Businesses are watched closely in Chicago and in the surrounding suburbs. On occasion, you may get a ticket for 400 W Superior or you may get summoned to City Hall to discuss and correct a violation. We can represent your business and help you resolve your issues if you ever run into trouble.
