Chicago Filling Station Rules Get Reworked
The Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (DBACP) published some suggested new Filling Station rules today. If you operate a Filling Station in Chicago, these new rules are important to review.
Some people may not realize that in addition to following the letter of the law, a business also has to follow any other rules created by the DBACP. This can be a real problem because a business can get its license revoked just as easily for breaking the rules as it can for breaking the law.
The new proposed rules are a mixed bag. While they loosen up some requirements (in particular, safety requirements), the rules also propose some stricter regulations concerning credit cards, signage, and other day-to-day operations.
The public may comment on the proposed rules until April 16, 2014. The final rules will go into effect June 1, 2014.
